I attended a secular university my first
year of college and realized that I needed a change. I was
headed down a dark road and realized that I wanted to get
on the right path or leave my past behind me. Ironically
when I arrived here, I still did not make the best decisions,
but now I realize it was all part of God’s bigger
picture for my life. Through getting in trouble here, I
was introduced to structure and stability. Part of the disciplinary
contract they set up for me was to meet with the Dean of
Women for accountability. I learned over time through this
that you could have a normal life while striving to be a
better Christian in your daily walk. I saw for the first
time an example of a true godly woman. I was encouraged
to be myself but to strive for a deeper relationship with
God. It was through the discipline and structure that CCU
gave me that turned my life around. I began to desire those
changes whole heartedly and I felt I had the support to
be able to do it.
I have been married for two years
now. My husband is a police officer and we have taken on
the responsibility to witness to his coworkers and friends
as often as possible. It keeps us on our toes because we
need to be good examples for them to respect us and desire
what we have in Christ. It is obvious that I would not be
the same person without that one-on-one advice and guidance
from the faculty and staff at CCU. The support that I received
when I was here changed my life forever and I am thankful
for having the opportunity to come here. Hopefully, I can
one day be that example to someone else as the people at
CCU were to me.
