It was March of my senior year of high
school, and I still hadn’t decided where I was going
to attend college. I thought I wanted to study Political
Science, which had been my childhood dream, but at the same
time I thought I might want to pursue something along the
lines of missions. I had only looked seriously at two schools,
but wasn’t particularly sold on either. My youth minister
suggested I check out CCU so I went down for a visit, not
expecting to find a school that would fit what I was looking
for. The environment was different than any other school
I had visited, and eventually I decided that Cincinnati
Christian University was the place where God wanted me.
Once I was at CCU, I realized that I
wanted to go into full time Christian ministry. Academics
have always been an interest of mine, so I was pleased to
find such incredible professors, ones that really challenged
me to grow both academically and spiritually. The classes
I have taken give me an even greater passion for studying
the Bible.
Beyond academics, my favorite part about
CCU is definitely the people. It’s amazing to be in
such an uplifting and encouraging environment, where both
students and faculty help each other grow and hold each
other accountable. One opportunity I have had here is to
be a Resident Assistant in the dorm. That position has given
me the chance to minister to other female students my age
and to help them grow. Though I was given the opportunity
to serve them, I found that I grew from that and learned
many valuable lessons about ministering to others.
I have never once regretted my decision
to come to Cincinnati Christian University. My friends,
the faculty and staff, and all the awesome opportunities
we have on-campus—chapel, family, student life events—continually
reassure me that I’m at the place God wants me. Right
now, I am not certain what my future career will be, but
I’m looking at something related to missions—whether
working with churches in other countries or an experience
like Bible translating. Wherever it is that God takes me,
CCU is certainly preparing me spiritually and academically.
