Upon graduation from high school, the college experience
for me meant one thing and one thing only--playing soccer.
I was not concerned with my academic well being at all.
So during my college visits, I went straight to the soccer
coach and the athletic director. However, when I met the
actual players, I found myself in situations I was not comfortable
with. Once I found out about the lifestyles and party habits
of the players at the other secular schools, I really had
to reevaluate my life. I was very troubled and began to
ask “is this where God really wants me to be?”
After discussing my concerns and dismay
with the High School Youth Minister at my church, he suggested
I visit Cincinnati Christian University from which he had
graduated. My initial plan was to major in Criminal Justice.
Upon my visit I learned this would be possible through CCU
within the confines of their Articulation Agreement with
the University of Cincinnati. God was beginning to show
me his plan for Jason. I fell in love with the campus and
the opportunities CCU could provide: playing soccer at a
high level of competition and getting a degree in
Criminal Justice while living in a Christian environment
with Jesus Christ at the center of everything.
Now, that I am here, my walk
with Christ has grown immensely and I would not trade that
for all the [CCU] Regional banners, National tournament
appearances, and All-American honors for anything. CCU has
changed my life. I am now studying to be a youth minister.
I am currently a high school youth minister intern at Southern
Acres Christian Church in Lexington, KY. I sincerely believe
my education and experiences that CCU is giving me will
truly make it possible for me to be a leader and shape the
world.
